Review: Celebratory Cha Cha & Freestyle

After a delicous day of breaky in bed, sushi train and catching up on the latest issue of delicious. I was treated by my better half to a surprise anniversary dinner at Cha Cha Char followed by dessert at Freestyle Tout.

Situated on the river front, nextdoor to the famous ARIA restaurant, Cha Cha Char is no ordinary bar & grill. With its Victorian era meet Sleek Contemporary decor, the self-proclaimed, yet publically agreed, Brisbane  Signature Steak Restaurant, radiates class and sophistication. With commendable (and not to mention patient, after our entree indecisiveness) service, and timely meal arrival, the restaurant's staff appeared to be on the ball. Our entree of Wood Fired Oysters with Smoked Bacon and Worcestershire Sauce left us licking our lips in attempt to consume every last drop, whilst our Eye Fillet with accompanying Fennel Salad, and Scallop atop a Squid Ink Risotto mains truly epitomised the establishments reputable cuisine.

My fetish with Freestyle began with the Berry Deluxe Sundae at the original store at Rosalie over 5 years ago. As the business grew and moved to bigger and better locations (West End & Emporium), so too did my appetite for dessert instead of dinner. With enough Freestyle visits under my belt to warrant a 'frequent indulger card', I have narrowed down my favourite menu item to the Vanilla Creme Brulee - served with Turkish Fairy Floss, Mixed Berries, Italian Biscotti, and Raspberry Sorbet. Despite my yearnings for the vanillary-berry goodness, we topped off our anniversary night with a classic Chocolate Deluxe Sundae as a compromise to both our differing tastes. No matter whether you're a chocolate cherisher, a fruit forager, a dumpling devourer, a nut nibbler, or even a soy slurper, Freestyle has a dish for tout [all].
